It used to be Jean Claude Van Damme. And damn he was great. I loved to see him fight. Now, he's faded in the background with straight to DVD movies. But his movies were major action heroe-e. For example, Sudden Death, Universal Soldier, Double Impact, and Lion Heart. There are hardly any action heroes now. Steven Seagal was excellent as well. It's been a while since he did anything worth seeing. Anything remotely close to his Under Seige reign and Hard to Kill flicks.
The reign of the action heroes are few. All we have are Superhero movies (don't get wrong I love them to death.).Also we have some actors that do some action movies, you may consider them an action hero such as Vin Diesel. But not to the same extent as Arnold once did, or Jean Claude, or Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren.
But Jean Claude was excellent and my favorite. Especially when showed those pecks of his and when he flexed those arms.

There was an action hero in the comic books of the 60's called DR Strange that I really enjoy reading
