As your doctor stated. It could be any number of things.
The urine sample was probably to run some tests. I assume one of those tests was to see if your pregnant. If you are pregnant you could be experiencing a miscarriage. Or also a ectopic pregnancy (tubal pregnancy). If I were you I would call back asking if you could come in earlier. If you are bleeding heavily( one or more pads ever hour to two hours) or have sever cramps go to the emergency room. In the mean time, Don't use tampons. If there is a serious problem tampon use could cause infection. Using pads will also help you determine how much you are bleeding.

Above all, don't panic. I agree with all the people who have so far said that you need to keep in touch with your doctor, and above all make sure you keep the appointment with him that's been made for you, because that's the most important thing.
Have you ever had trouble with your periods before? I suffer from a syndrome known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) which is known to cause havoc with periods (and hormone levels, amongst other things), which might be one of the things your doctor will want to eliminate when you see him. The reason I think this could be a cause of this is because I have intermittent bleeding like you describe.
Good luck!

I had bleeding for 2 wks at a time for 6 months, (periods just 14 days apart) and they checked for fibroids, endometriosis, and cancers-- turns out my hormones were whacky. I started taking the Pill to make my periods regular again. They will probably do the same for you to determine what's causing it, through a pelvic ultrasound, blood tests (esp, for anemia), and an endometrial biopsy. Try not to stress about it too much- it can be worrisome when they start throwing around the word "biopsy" but it's only to rule things out. Good luck!

Most likely your hormone levels. you may need to take a hormone supplement. which is usully birth control but your not using any so your doc might not put you on them if you dont want them. THIS IS NORMAL sometimes it happens. dont worry. I know its a pain in the *** but at least you can get in with your doctor. and when he does find the propblem it wont be fixed right away so get used to the idea of having a long peroid for the time being.

Get medical help fast, why has he left it for next week he should see to you asap to at least put your mind at rrest, you are loosing a lot of blood - you dont say whether its heavy bleeding either. If it stops and starts again in between periods it should be checked out asap even send you to Women's Hosp for thorough check up. Keep a check on it and if you dont feel too well and weak get it checked out even at the Hosp.

actually sounds like fibroids. could be an erosion of the cervix.
You can also bleed with chlamydia Your doc is right it coud be many things hence a urine sample will pinpoint exactly - try not to think the worst.

I had this problem. It could be a host of things: fibroid tumors, endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, or just hormonal nuttiness. Mine was resolved by going on the pill. Try not to worry before you find out what it is. It's likely to be something minor. It's a pretty common disorder...

Make sure you stay on your doctor to find the cause. I am not trying to scare you, but at 31 I had endometrial cancer. Consistent bleeding, even after sex, was a symptom. You can have an ultrasound to see if you have any fibroid tumors in your uterus. You can then have an endometrial biopsy to make sure the tumors are not cancerous. It took me a year to become diagnosed. Good luck. I am sure you are okay, but you need to be persistent.

the answer is quite exhaustive. we need more information (how much, how often, how old are you, any other symptoms). Most of the time it is probably nothing to worry about and they are treatable. the reassuring thing is that this is a common problem and easy to address. Infections need identifying and treating. the questions that you need answering are - what is causing this, are you bleeding so much that you need to replace ur blood with iron or blood.
