Yeah, and he's not just from that movie, you know. The real man William Wallace actually did lead a revolt against the English crown many years ago. There's a few historical inaccuracies in Braveheart, but that's to be expected with every movie. Gotta stretch the truth a little bit to make people interested in watching it.
Tragic hero - yes and no. Wallace would've gladly given his life for the freedom of Scotland, that much has been established in history and if you watch the movie, you can understand that too. He's tragic because he did lose his life, and it turned to be all for nothing. England still defeated Scotland.

Did you not watch the movie, William fights for his country and love of his life that was killed. Ultimately he dies when he is betrayed by his own countrymen and he still doesn't ask for forgiveness or lose face in front of his fellow fighters. William Wallace is a tragic hero.

Yes he is. Don't go by the movie though. The movie was based on actual events. Do some research and learn the real story behind the movie. The real William Wallace was only in his early twenties when he died.

Yes! Because:-
1/ He is a leader who inspires a group of men to take an action that is at a personal cost to them i.e. death, loss of family, loss of propewrty, loss of freedom due to imprisonment, torture etc..
2/ He is doomed because his fate to die is sealed when he becomes a pain to the English by embarassing them.
3/ He suffers the utlimate personal loss i.e. death as a result of his experiences.
4/ He is noble in his cause but also imperfect in nature since there are instances he allows his desire for revenge to be his motivation

yes he is. he has all the characteristics of a tragic hero-see your book or notes for these: he thinks he is invincible, he has power, gains power, and makes his own decline from top to bottom: rebellion to death. he realizes his mistake/s too late when everything is already in motion, he causes his own downfall and maybe dies in some cases. he has too much pride, isnot rational at times and in the end it is him that causes his own downfall, being ironic.
