There are so many great reasons to become a mentor. Many children have no one to look up to and no one to give them direction in their lives. I have been a social worker for a long time and it is amazing what kids have to go through. But, I have seen the right mentor really turn a child's vision around. Not only that, you will likely find that you look at yourself differently. You will see more of the great things that you can offer to the world that you may not have realized before. Other perks are that you will likely have a lifetime relationship with this child, plus it looks great on college and job applications. Who knows may even help you decide that you may want to be a teacher, counselor, or social worker yourself. Give it a shot you have nothing to lose but a lot to gain.

perhaps because you can do some good in this world? you might not be able to change them all, but if you touch one kid's life and make a difference, it's all worth it. we all need someone to look up to and have as a role model, because some of these celebrities that kids are looking up to these days certainly aren't worthy!

Maybe you can help out children with their problems. That's sounds like a good deal! ^_^

do you feel that you have something valuable to offer? knowledge? experience? talent? then go for it.
