Check with the Bar Association. There may be a Legal Aide Society in the area. Some "paid" attornies don't want the hassle of a good defense. If they get their money, that is all they want.

I am sorry i know many with the same problem.Pro Bono
lawyers only do that if a case will give them fame ,put them on t-v and boost there careers.There simply is no lawyer with a heart.

depending on the type of case he is facing, there may be lawyers or groups targeting that. the southern poverty law center, the aclu, the legal aid society, feminist groups, men's groups, homeschool groups - all these provide lawyers to members when the cases align with the goals of the group.

they are usually overworked inexperienced and underpaid but all you got.
can get low cost first interview or sometimes free through the local bar referrals.
think of important questions and get your money's worth.
or look at yellow pages ads see if free first visit.
if there are civil rights issues contact the DOJ or ACLU for advice.
