To determine if they are proportional, then reduce the fractions.
5/8 is already reduce
75/120 Dive the numerator(top) and denominator(bottom) by 5
15/24 Dive the numerator and denominator by 3
5/8 Therefore 5/8 and 75/120 are proportional by a factor of 15 (3*5)

there are 2ways you could do this.
1) punch both of those into a calculator and see if they equal the same thing - a teacher wont like this method very much
2) find a common denominator...
what do you need to multiply 8 by to get 120? the answer is, 15. so multiply your numerator by 15 also... which gives you 75/120. they are certainly proportional.

discover the least worry-unfastened denominator, that's a hundred and twenty, divide it by utilising 8 to work out which you get 15. multiply the 15 cases 5 interior the numerator and get seventy 5. because of the fact the numerators are components besides because of the fact the denominators, they are proportional 5*15=seventy 5 -- --- 8*15=a hundred and twenty
