Yes I agree~ However, most of the rich people do have to spend a certain amount of money on charity or they have to pay a large amount of taxes. Most of the charitys that they give to are in other countries which is what I dont really understand..there are starving people here in America. Feed us first before you donate your money to another place~

You hit the nail on the proverbial head when you mention injustice. The true solution for poverty is economic justice. Work for that and you are working toward a permanent solution.

I wouldn't say that charity is corrupt just, as you suggest, somewhat co-dependent behavior. This of course doesn't apply to all charitable programs but to a great number of them.

Much of this of course in the US is related to the fact that this country would rather build a prison that solve a problem. We like to pretend that the reason people are in poverty is lack of industry on their part, that if they were "worthy" then they wouldn't have this problem. It's much easier to blame the victim than solve the social and political problems that create poverty.

They have usually worked very hard to get where they are and pay huge taxes on their income. Now you want more? Communism failed! read your history books, things happen because of money and the drive to acquire it, if you were told that no matter how hard you worked you would never have the nice things in life and the welfare mother of 7 was getting a free ride, what would be your incentive to work hard?

Because the rich do not understand. You have to be poor to understand poor. Rich feel deserving.

The trite sayings are true. The rich get rich and the poor get poorer. My grandmother used to say, "them that has is them that gets!" If they gave it all away, then they wouldn't be rich anymore, now, would they?

I hear you. I think it is because they think that if they help all the poor they will no longer be rich. A sad excuse in my opinion.
