1) The US can't attack N. Korea because we don't have enough troops due to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
2) Even if the US were to attack N. Korea that would start a war with China and thus WW III.
3) Sanctions will not work on N. Korea because China will eventually supply N. Korea and there is nothing the US can do about it.
4) The only way to stop N. Korea is thru China, N. Korea's only ally and right now it's only trading partner.
5) In the meantime we have to hope that N. Korea doesn't give terrorists a nuke weapon which could be used against the US but N. Korea would never directly attack the US with nukes because they no the US would wipe them off the map.

I think Bush was duped into believing that the weapons of mass destruction were there by the CIA as well as other orginizations, now he and everyone else is gun shy. Election campaigns will be starting up soon and the Republicans don't want to open another can of worms. Another point is, I think everyone is afraid to do anything to Korea in case China, who has and is a direct supporter of the North Koreans might join in the fight. I do know that the reason that went in Iraq was not for oil. The US does not import oil from Iraq. Most of the Iraqi oil goes to China.

Iraq had used WMDs and was planning on using them again. Also, Iraq is surrounded by people who didn't really care what Iraq did to the rest of the world, as long as it left them (Iran) alone. N. Korea has got China as a support system. Even China has had it with them. So, we have more leverage than with Iraq. Iraq would NOT have been invaded IF the worthless UN had done their job. Koffi Anna was as useless as t*ts on a boar. Some of the UN members have learned from that and don't want N. Korea to get into the same situation. China knows that if N. Korea has to be invaded, China will have a democracy on their southern boarder. That scares the sh*t out of them. So, they would rather have a "tamed" dictatorship than a free people.

Ok, step back from the TV screen, newspaper headlines, sound-bytes, and shouting ignorant and think for just a minute about each situation and the people around them.
IRAQ - Allies with Syria, Iran, Al Queda. Iraq did indeed have the materials to make WMD. We have already unearthed mass graves of those he used to test them on. Definition of a WMD is Weapon of Mass Destruction and I don't know about you but hundreds of thousands of people dead and buried in the sands of Iraq suggests Mass, Weapon, and Destruction all at one time.
Remember that Syria gave safe haven to Hussein's family. They are still there and have not been extradited to Iraq for any reason. Do you think they walked there? Do you think they did not have transport or some kind of mechanized ability to move quickly before the Americans came in? Was there any doubt any anyone's mind that we were coming? So, if they know that we are coming, France and Russia have supplied the materials to make these WMD's but we don't know this yet and they would like to save face for us to never find out then what do you do? You move them, you do it quickly and quietly to either Syria or Iran. Is there no one wondering why Iran didn't announce nuclear plans before the war in Iraq? Could no one possibly imagine that the stock piles of what is needed to create a bomb once moved into Iran and the regime toppled that Iran would take this and use it as its own?
Why we waged war:
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and others in the region did not want to do it but they wanted it done. They as our friends and allies gave us the blessing to go in and take care of a person that was quickly destabilizing the region.
NORTH KOREA: Allies with Communist countries such as China and Russia. And don't try to tell me that Russia is not communist anymore. They are about to break as a country and will soon have no choice but to try and take it back and rule as China does with an open economy but closed philosophy. Russians just are not doing well and are becoming very restless and disillusioned with their so called new freedoms. Being able to say what you want does not fill an empty stomach that the government no longer fills.
Our relations with Russia and China are difficult behind the scenes. China is in serious dispute with the US in the WTO because of counterfeiting. Russia is in dispute with the US for selling technology and arms to anyone in order to feed their people and keep their economy going.
Why we do not wage war:
Russia, communist, above North Korea; China, communist, below North Korea; Japan off the coast of North Korea. They DO NOT want us to come there and take care of their problem. They do not want the West to come in and correct a communist problem and police them. They are tenuous allies in that they do not want North Korea to have nuclear weapons but will not support any military action by the US within their airspace or borders. Both China and Russia have illegal immigration problems with the North Koreans and do not want masses of refugees flooding into their countries. They cannot afford them and do not want to babysit them.
If the Iraq war had anything to do with oil is was due to the destabilization that Iraq would have had to production with the Saudis could not have. Nothing more. We have gained nothing monetarily from the venture and are paying in both pocket books and lives with no return except for the knowledge that we have helped liberate a people from a tyrant only to have them find the freedom to kill each other. We have no choice but to try to help them get past this and create a government that will allow them an outlet instead of weapons. Americans are doing no less than Iraqis except we are waging a war of law and words instead of guns and bombs. No difference.

the difference is that north korea is allied with a MAJOR nuclear armed country, China, and they are in close proximity to them as well ... iraq had no borders with anyone we were scared of ... the middle east takeover is in summary, a strategic move on China ... we dont want a major war with china until the future when we are in a better position to put the sqeeze on them ... a war with north korea would have a high probability of developing into a nuclear exchange with China which i would imagine most halfway sane people in the administration want to avoid at this point in time ... china sees an invasion of the north as a major threat to them and it would create a huge humanitarian crisis that they would have to deal with coming across their border.

Your question brings all the lies to light. It's not a "War on Terrorism." Why not attack the crazy Arians within the U.S.? What about the terrorism that's been going on in Ireland? What about all the other parts of the world?
It should be quite obvious that Bush Jr. just wants to finish up his dad's business. It's amazing how he contrived a way to do it. Even moreso that people went along with it. 9/11>Taliban>Afghanistan>Iraq>Common Sense???
How about 9/11>Bin Laden?

We can't handle too many wars at the same time by our-selves. We have to worry about North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan and the current civil war in Iraq. Our troops are already spread thin. So, any military action would have to be thought of twice. Casualties of war is never a good thing.
But the US is a great country and will endure.

Korea :If someone was threatening you. would you tell them exactly what your plans were. First, would you know for sure if it was idle threats, boasting to make your own people think you were powerful , or the truth. Also we are still trying to get support from other countries that are more threatened than us.
Saddam: He boasted he had WMDs and we beleived him. We went in to inspect, because koki amin wouldn't.
the french and germans didn't want us to know they were selling him technology for oil. so we had to do it alone.

Simple. Bush has history with Iraq because of his daddy and thought it was his turn. Plus there's oil. Atop of that, we're "fighting the war on terror".... the only reason why the war on terror appeared there was because we invaded it. Correct? All done strategically after 9/11 to confuse Americans into believing that this was retaliation for the incident. Poorly timed, Bush. And wrong place.
