"The government" must be forced to act within the laws that govern all of it's countries citizens.

If it did have this ability, many many people could be kept for very little reason, or even personal reasons of some of the heads of government!

"What! Mr. Smith is going to run against me in the election! Lock him up in secret prison X until the election is over! Or maybe just keep him there so he stays quiet!"

All prisoners must have a public trial so as to enforce an even and fair disbursment of punishment for their crimes or lack there of.

If most Americans believe the government has the right, let alone power, to detain its own citizens, then they are not Americans. This is what happens in fascist countries, not in free ones, and goes against every article and principle in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. This is what truly creates terrorism...fear of your own government.

Do whatever was done by FDR in WWII, except for the mass internments by ethnicity.

I don't think he was a war criminal.

PS POWs are ALWAYS held without trial, indefinitely.

According to the Geneva convention, all Prisoners Of War can be legally held until ALL HOSTILITIES CEASE.These thugs are POWs. They CAN LEGALLY be held until we win the war on terror, and without trial.

No! Detaining any person without due process is against the law. It clearly states in our constitution that no PERSON be denied due process. Not citizen, PERSON.
