can you save orginal xbox games on the xbox 360 hard drive?

Yes, you can save your game progress. If that is what you are talking about. You need the hard drive to get the updates to play the games though. Not all of the original games work on the 360. There is a list of games that do work though. Look for the backwards compatible list.

Yes, the original xbox games that you can play on the 360 will save normally.

you cannot transfer saves from the xbox to the 360 - they did it on purpose.

Alternatviely yes if you play and old xbox game on the 360 you can make game saves. (if the game is supported)

Once you've got the patches for the 200-odd games that play on the 360, you can save on your hard drive, I'm pretty certain.

Yes you may save ORIGINAL Xbox games on the HD. There are MODs out there, but they're risky that will allow you to actually ARCHIVE the entire game to play off the HD...but I don't reccommend it...especially if you want to play on Xbox Live.

Duh yes that`s the reason you need a hard drive to play original Xbox games.

pass dont own one mayb you should contact the manufactor or ask in comets or somewhere that stock them.
