My baby is due on Jan 2nd and I am scheduled for a C-section for Dec the 28th. What can I say to my Dr. to let me have the baby on Dec 21st.
My friend had hers all 2 weeks early by C-section. I just want to have the baby and be home for Christmas.

My son was born last year on the 12th. I was due on the 20th, but had a C-section with my first child (failure to prgress, 2 weeks overdue and NOTHING made that kid come out.). I just told the doctor that I would be really stressed spending the holidays in the hospital and asked if it was possible. There are limitations, though, obviously. Your baby grows and develops a little every single day. Going too early can increase potential problems. If the Dr. Says no, don't push, but it never hurts to ask. Good luck, and congratulations on the baby!! ♥

Why are you having a c-section early in the first place, the baby comes when it comes, maybe if you wanted to be home for the holidays you should have planned better, I'm not trying to sound harsh, I have just seen ladies do the c-section early and the baby wasn't ready to be born and the baby had problems, why not just let the baby comes when it's ready?

I'm just a firm believer that the baby comes when it's ready-whether that's before the due date or after, it comes when it's supposed to and if you rush that then you run the risk that the baby will have problems.

I was due on Jan 6 and had my baby on Dec 21. That's only 2 weeks early...we had no problems. 38 weeks is considered full term. It sure can't hurt to ask the Dr.

I don't think doctors routinly do early c-sections because you the risk your baby being born too early and hence needing special care. If you go into labor early, then the baby is ready to come anyway and they'll prep you for your c-section right away, but if you don't go into labor before the 28th it'll be fine. It's much better for your baby when he/she is so little not to be around alot of friends and family because of germs. We're all anxious to see our babies, but they come when they're ready. Besides, think of all the cool gifts you little one will have waiting when he enters the world. This way you'll have time to get everything in place before it arrives.

Having a c-section is not about picking the birthday. I understand your wanting to be home for Christmas, but what's best for the baby is to be as close to 40 weeks as possible, everyday counts. Good luck and congratulations!!

Also, to the earlier post about babies will come out when they are ready - you are right, most of them will but some will not. My first son was literally sideways in my uterus, no amount of time or labor would have made it possible to have him naturally (we discovered after 36 hours of labor). When they went in they discovered that his head was above my pelvic bone which prevented him from turning. After one c-section the doctor strongly recommended that I have my second via cesarean and after she explained the risks of complication I agreed. Don't go spouting on about something you apparently don't know much about. Contrary to popular belief, most doctors won't just give someone a c-section just because they want to pick the birthday.

You don't want the baby too early. It's better to wait. Why don't you enjoy Christmas and then have the baby on the 28th and you'll have the baby for New Year's. Every day in the womb is one day better for your baby. Why do you have to have a c-section?

Unfortunatly you don't really get to pick your baby's birthday outside of the window the doctor gives you. If that were the case most mothers would have their baby's when it was convenient for them. Besides, you may not want to be all sore and yucky feeling with a newborn on Chrismas day.

All you can really do is ask or mention it to your doctor. There is no medical reason to have the baby earlier so it would be elective for the doctor. He may have scheduled you in when he had time. Just mention it see what they say. Good Luck to you.

probably not...the Dr know by taking your baby early that the lungs need to be developed among other things... if he takes the baby any earlier the lungs can still be premature... the date the Dr. picked is for a reason, not because that is the only free time he had...

just ask what you just said that you want your ceasearian section don 5 days earlier than schedualed because you want to be home for x-mas w/ the baby and that everyone from your family and your hubby's family would be there and THAT IT REALLY MEANS ALOT TO YOU TO HAVE THE BABY THEN. :)
