Why does it stop glowing after sometime and then when you put it in light for sometime it glows in the dark again? (e.g. flour. toys for kids)

The radiation given off by the radium ionizes the air around the radium sample. The e- jumping levels in the air give the energy back in the form of visible light (in the blue range).

Old people round here say that too, but I prefer milk chocolate. Besides, it makes you fat. I do believe that some of the other foods mentioned, work, like eg eating kiwis and such. Bye !

same way fluorescent light bulbs work. the radiating energy given off jumps down energy levels and that energy is given off as light and heat
