Do I have the right to tell my doctor I want to be induced? I am seeing him tomorrow and I will be 38 weeks on Friday. I broke my back ina car accident back in '99. I have been having a hard time with the pregnancy, and want nothing more than to NOT be pregnant anymore. Any advice would be helpful Thanks

If your doctor thinks you are not ready, he does not have to induce you. I know that the end of pregnancy can be very difficult, and if you explain your situation to your doctor, hopefully he will agree to induce you. I was induced at 38.5 weeks and now have a healthy 2 year old. My doctor had a policy of not inducing before 38 weeks unless there was a major issue, like preeclampsia.

Good luck!

Yes you have the right. I would tell him about your back if he already doesn't know, and just ask or say that you would like to be induced in a week (or whenever you want to be) and hopefully he will agree and do it. Good luck and congratulations!!

I was told you could be induced anytime after 36 weeks if it is your second child and your cervix is favorable. If it is your first they will aim for as close to 40 as they can get.
