What's a good Italian restaurant in the Boston- Cambridge area? A nice atmosphere would be a plus. Thanks! :-)

Two Words: North End. Walk around Hanover Street and pick one. Some are so small, they only fit 5-12 people, but they are all good. My friends do this from time to time when we're really in the mood for Italian.

Carlo's. It is life changing food. The atmosphere is nice cozy but not nice fancy. I definitely find it romantic and there is something nice about how familiar the staff is. (You might have a waitress eating at a table next to you if you're there near closing!)

This might be a little far for you, but ohmigod it is totally a restaurant I could forsake all others for. It is that good.

North End, Mother Anna's on the very end of Hanover St near the exit of the Sumner Tunnel. My husband and I have been going there for 15 years and I have NEVER been disappointed. Nice, romantic atmosphere, dim, quiet, intimate.

Anywhere in the North End is going to be fabulous. My personal favorite is Giaccomo's, but the line is out the door just about every night, so try to dine early. If you aren't up for the wait, I would just walk around Hanover Street, honestly I don't think anywhere around there is BAD. I've gone in tons over the years, just trying it out, and all have been nice.

Strega in the North End or Il Panino (not express). You can't go wrong in the North End. Also, ask the locals for suggestions. You may find a diamond in the rough.
