An aromatherapist should be concerned with
1. Any allergies that the patient may have. This usually applies when essential oils will be used with a carrier oil topically.
2. If there is any high or low blood pressure. Some essential oils affect blood pressure and water retention. Hyper and hypotension are conditions would be contraindications for the use of essential oils like hyssop some rosemarys, and basils that raise blood pressure and oils like German chamomile, nutmeg, inula and more that lower blood pressure.
3. Is the client taking any blood thinning medication? This would contraindicate the use of oils that are blood thinners. Cinnamon, garlic, ammi, lovage, etc.
4. Any other medical condition that the client is concerned with.
I wonder...are you the client or the aromatherapist?
