does verizon wireless plans accept any motorola phone?

i want to get a motorola L6, but i'm not sure if verizon will cover it.

Verizon does not. The motorola L6 is a j2me based phone. It might come out for verizon sooner or later, though it hasn't been offically announced.

another consideration is that a sim card from another carrier may not be acceptable to verizon.
