How can I play a sound (mp3) on my computer without windows media player opening?

I would like it to play like the sounds in windows (beep etc.) with nothing visual going on.

so many softwares r there u can use to play mp3
if u r having real player u can use it .
just go to explorer TOOLS click on FOLDER OPTIONS
go to FILE TYPES click mp3 it will be written there click on CHANGE and change it to any other player for eg: real player
OR if u r using win xp u can change it by right clicking the mp3 song and click OPEN WITH and again click on CHOSE PROGRAM and select another player and check the box below written "always use the selected program" then click ok
