As long as you all three want to do it, and you lay down hard ground rules before you start that everybody is keen on, than you will have a great time. Where stuff goes amiss and people start having issues is when it isn't clearly defined beforehand what they want out of the threesome and what the rules are (just kissing is okay, just oral is ok, etc.)
As long as all three of you are on the same page it'll be allot of fun for you. Someday you may be okay with doing everything, but it's okay just to wade in and test the water first. There is no one way to do it. The right way is what ever makes you happy.

Be clear with your girlfriend what is allowed and what isn't. When it gets going, if this is his first threesome, all of your husband's higher brain functions (like speach, or consiering the emotions of his wife) are likely to disolve. But he'll pay attention if she says, "No, I'm not here for that." So you'll have to trust your friend and your husband.
Other than that, it's a great way to get closer together. It gives you and your friend something else to talk about, compare notes and preferences, etc. Also gives you and your husband something to talk about and remember happily.
