Yes
Its great WELCOME ALL to the greatest nation on Earth
Its more people than the US has ever had before but the US still has an incredibly low population density for a developed country
Heck, we could probably support a billion people in the US
But they better be spread out, not everyone can live in southern California

Yep I read this in the taipei times
Sunday.
United States
New population mark due
The Census Bureau said on Thursday that with a net gain of one person every 11 seconds, the nation's population will reach 300 million at about 7:46am on Tuesday. The estimate assumes that an American is born every seven seconds, one dies every 13 seconds and the nation gains an immigrant every 31 seconds.
Wow that's a lot of people.

I watched a very informative special of Anderson 360 last night about this subject. It's true that this is just an estimate. With illegal immigration at an all time high, it is suspected that the number is much higher. In my lifetime the population has grown by 1/3 in the USA. We already see the effects with increasing poverty and the rise of US citizens who are unable to secure health care for their families. Meanwhile, illegal immigrants are popping out babies like pez dispensers while tax payers foot the bill. Our natural resources are being used up at an alarming rate and this country cannot sustain the projected increase in population. We are now the 3rd largest populated country in the world. Anyone who thinks we should open up the national parks to make room for the influx of illegal immigrants, rather than send them all home to use their own countries resources needs a reality check.

I just wonder how do the people of the so called educated and the greatest nation in the world think to have more than one child when the rest of the world (India, china etc.) are simply overpopulated and cannot control their populations.
I see that it's very common to have 3-4 children per couple in US which we in India can never even think of in our wildest nightmares.
This (hving 3- 4 babies) was the custom here in India in the sixties and that has lead us to this catastrophical situation.
So beware US.....do not become an India. and adopt one child policy ar better stay without having a child and adopt.

which kinda makes you wonder why president bush thinks the kyoto agreement unfair, with 300 million citizens contributing towards greenhouse gases it really is quite detrimental to the world's environment

It's not enough people. China has over 1 billion. Our country isn't even crowded, and people are freaking out. If you have seen the world, you know that the US is one of the least-crowded countries.
