you do need to have 6 months extra on it, and it's a bit of a weird one because although it is owned by Spain and uses Euros it is not classed as an EU country, "i don't know why"... but i just got back from there yesterday and it was excellent make use of the duty free cos it is very cheap... rest of the prices are the same as over here so bring a lot of cash.... oh and by the way the landing nearly made me poop myself so just to let you know in advance u wont crash into the water the run way leads off the sea... anyway have a great time and send me a postcard!!!!

Unless things have changed, the only country that requires less than 6 months passport validity is France. Spain (& all the Spanish Islands) is 6 months. So i'd advise u definitely get a new passport before u go! Enjoy yourself too!

Hiya. It states you should have a full 6 months on passport still valid when you leave the Country you're visiting. (Lanzarote), which I personally think is stupid, why issue 10 yr Passports when they can only be used for 9 1/2! Money making! Enjoy hols.

Lanzarote is one of the canary islands, and although spanish does not come under the EU ruling, you are resticted in your duty free allowance, and I think you'll find that the passport must be valid for 6 months upon entry back to the UK
