ok i'm not trying to sound selfish but my husband is leaving for overseas very soon and i'm wanting to get him a laptop so me and the kids can communicate with him better than just by mail it will be easier on the kids. anyways i was told that there is sites i can go to and get one for free but the sites i find want credit card #'s. i mean i don't mind paying for one but i don't have $1200 or more to pay for it at once. i'm not looking for a hand out , just want to know if anyone has any idea of where to go to maybe get a fee one or one that won't cost me a arm and a leg. i can't go to a rent to own place cause he won't be able to take it out of the state let alone country till it is paid off. so if anyone has a clue please let me know. god bless

I think that if you get a Dell or go to outpost.com That is the best prices you can find. I do not know of any free ones, but Dell is very very cheap. outpost.com has deals that are very nice some times also. Hope you can find a computer.

Hello! I can definitely relate. My big brother is on his second tour in Iraq and him having a laptop has kept us all a little saner. With a web cam (which is the best thing ever) he can see and talk and read stories to his son and wife ( and talk and see the rest of us too). Try to go on http://www.freecycle.org/
Find the area you live in and join the group. Everything posted has to be free. You can offer things free to the group or post a wanted for anything you need. People in my area really use this alot and it has helped alot of people too. I have seen laptops on my areas Freecycle many times. I hope this helps and good luck to you and your family! And a special good luck and thank you to your husband!!!

try looking at freecycle.org It's a site where people who no longer need something offer it up for free. You will have to register in specific towns, but you should find a group near you.
