Because rhyming exercises in school usually aren't very creative, I will assume they are looking for "plane." However, you could also put the following:
quail (as some answerers already suggested - but a quail does not fly very high)
raven (also has the long a sound, and it is a bird which flies in the sky, so it would fit the qualifications as well)

u could describe some object that it flails in the sky, but not relly sure of the context
