I just sold something on ebay for $19.00 and I said "Paypal only" and the doofus who won the auction sent me a money order. It's made out for the right amt. but the rest of it is left blank, he hasn't made it out to anyone and he hasn't signed it either. Can I still cash it?

Thank you!

Yes you should sing it. keep records of the purchase, the money order number, and his address and name.
He should have put your name as the payee, and his as the payor. But no he doesn't have otfill it out. it's just that anyone can cashit legally if they found it.

Call a bank and ask them what they suggest you do. Money orders are already paid for and the money is there. The doofus now has no record he actually paid you because he didn't fill it out which means his copy is blank as well. I love it when people don't follow instructions! If you didn't send him the product, I would send him the money order back and tell him the payment wasn't accepted. But if you already did, you still have the money order, blank or not.

We purchase money orders all the time, plus I worked at a bank for seven years. The purchaser doesn't have to sign the money order, he should have made it out to you; but its guaranteed money so your bank shouldn't have a problem with it. Just fill it in to you.

Fill it out and cash it - I've done this many times with no problems. But first make sure it is not a counterfeit !!!

I use money orders and, yes, I have to sign and usually provide address. I'd check with a bank and see what they have to say about your case...
