Matt, first off if they were stainless steel you wouldn't need to remove the rust. They would probably have been maybe crome plated or just forged iron. Hit the rust with a wire brush to knock off the rust, then treat the tool to a bath of light weight oil.

I doubt they are stainless tools. Get a gallon of Ospho or Rusticide and pur it into a container that your tools will fit in. Come back tomorrow and the rust will be completely gone. Rinse them off with water and spray them down with WD 40

Spray them with WD 40 or an equal and let them sit for awhile, several hours or even days. Then wipe the rust off. If it persists, you may have to use a small wire brush, like a Dremel tool, to get all the rust.

Naval Jelly works great, but your tools are not stainless steel. Stainless steel should not rust.

Try naval jelly, vinegar, or some other weak acid.
DON'T USE GASOLINE LIKE SOMEONE SUGGESTED!!!
That's a great way to cause a fire. Any tiny spark can ignite it. Besides, gas won't do anything for the rust, but an acid can dissolve the rust.

Yes! Go to your local hardware store and buy a product called "Naval Jelly". It removes the rust. We even used it once on rusty bicycle chain--it works great!

Try soaking them in "PB Blaster." That should help loosen the rust as well as any tools like pliers.

They make rust remover, I don't know how well it works, but they make it, so someone must buy it.
Don't use soda, it will eat right through the metal, and permanantly ruin your tools.
