It seems stupid that they didn't just get a gun and shoot Mario and/or Luigi. Can anyone explain why they didn't have guns?

Koopa Troopas where outfitted by the lowest possible tendered bid with the highest bribe.
Seems like the same bunch are doing the same with the armed forces at the moment. *oooh sneaky politics* ;->

Some koopas are four legged.
Two legged Koopas believe that if they shoot Mario, he will shrink and manage to jump on them in time, causing a shell chain reaction, thus killing all Koopas while (maybe) Mario loses a life and rises from the dead.

look at how Mario was made. Did you know that he was originally called "Jumpman"? He was the first character to utilize "jump" in arcade games. Plus, remember how he first had to hit a block just to get the shell to be knocked over? That's becase it took a lot of programming just to make these small things happen. I don't know about having guns in these games. The kooka kids had wands though. :D LoL..remember them?

I think machine guns were not invented in the Mushroom realm. I think the Koopa Troop was formed to use brute power instead of machenary.

because gannon stole all of them and then sold them to mother brain. it was marketed toward kids. there's not going to be machine guns in a mario game but it would be quite good and well mario games are based on being able to fire balls of fire at the enemys

cause it would make it too hard to beat the game

also super mario was made as a game for all ages, and shooting the lasagna out of two italian dudes seems kinda racist, lol

Because it isn't an American game. Americans are linear in the sense that if it means thinking about then it's rubbish. Why think when you can shoot. Kind of sums up a whole philosophy don't you think.
