My Yahoo.com home page has been replaced by an advertisement for anti-virus program. Can you fix this?

First download Adaware from download.com and run a scan. Afterwards you can right click on your "E" icon or whatever browswer icon on your desktop. Click on properties. There you can put in the url for the homepage you want.

Click on Tools, Internet Options then Use as Home Page.
If that doesn't work click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information then in that window click Tools, System Configuration Utility, Startup. There you can choose which programs will start when you turn your computer on.
Mind you I'm still running Win98SE but I'm sure the newer versions must have something of the same.

Depending on how safe you surf, you may not need an active monitoring app,
such as TeaTimer, which is in Spybot S&D.

By installing the hosts file, IE-SPYADs, SiteAdvisor and WinPatrol,
you will have a pretty good line of defense which won't use up any resources.
this is the link you reqire for the apps http://temerc.com/hddncounttuts.html......

for anti virus use http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
for spyware use ewido
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

And of course a firewall is a must,
tho the XP SP 2 firewall is not sufficient in my opinion.
It only blocks incoming attacks, and should something get thru and that's always possible,
then it can call out to get more things installed or use your machine as a zombie
I'd recommend Zone Alarm, but one of the older versions from here:

Either of the 4.5 versions seem to work best, less buggy than current on

Try Ad-Aware SE Personal. This is free to home users. Sounds like spy ware. Make sure you only have one spy ware program at a time though as more then one can cause conflicts, I find this one a very good one. Good luck!

By the way, go to Internet options in Internet Explorer and make sure the home page is set there to where you want it.

It's spyware. So after you use Ad-aware, you'll go back to Tools > Internet Options > http://yahoo.com under homepage.

You should perform Ad-aware scans once a week.

Yes, this is a sign of spyware. Go to download.com and download Ad-Aware and Spyware Doctor (the trial) and run scans on your computer.
