A good rule of thumb any month with a R in it
September , October, November ,December and so on
Plus use a pruning sealer to help the tree to heal

Now is a good time to trim evergreens or you can wait until it is colder. Ceders you can do any time.I would do mine now as there are so many things to do in Spring..one less chore.

Anytime you have a sharp clean saw you can trim them without harm. The best time would be when the flow of sap slows down in the late fall.

you can do it now, or wait till it's colder out. They are hardy and tough to kill. :):):)
