Often you should be about the immediate business which may not need eloquence. This is like what was popularized with Barbara Striesand, "Shut up and sing." If the pretty, polite, or elegant expression isn't coming, either say the basic facts or say nothing. Every now and then, I see performances where people are expecting some nice explanation or commentary and the performer simply jumps into the music and does it. Your performance can often say far, far more than your words, so, and I don't mean this in a derogatory or demeaning fashion, if the words aren't coming, "Shut up and sing" (or whatever artistry you are called up to do). You'll be fine, even without eloquence. Karen Carpenter hid behind a set of drums and her brother for the longest time, yet she is remembered long after she was gone even though the talking was often left to him.
