He didn't become head of the Catholic church, he founded the Church of England, separate from the control of the Pope. He actually did nothing as far as actual believe of services went, he only closed down the monasteries to get their money. It wasn't until his son, Edward IV, became King that changes were made to the services, a new prayer book was written, and theology.

Henry VIII did not become head of the Catholic Church. He broke away and formed the Church of England when the Pope refused to give him a divorce.

properly in England Henry viii abolished the catholic church, destroyed monasteries and so on, The Protestant faith replaced into already spreading from Europe, there replaced into everyday opposition to the Pope and this faith replaced into embraced by using Henry ... This action meant that the Anglican church replaced into the typical church of great Britain, with the ruler because it is head. The reformation because it replaced into conventional replaced right into a ecu extensive subject , no longer in basic terms Britain

Henry VIII did NOT become the head of the Catholic church - he split from it and formed his own church, the Anglican church.
He did this to allow himself to divorce the Queen and take another wife.
There were other, smaller changes, but I'm not an expert on the Anglican Church.
