I am renting a room in my home to a single white female roommate. She pays her bills on time and is semi-clean in the common areas but she keeps her room in disarray. You can hardly see the floor in her room because of all the clothes and junk laying around. This, I don't mind since I am not occupying that room but the problem is, her funk is starting to creep to other parts of the house. For example, If I am downstairs, I know when she has the door to her room open because the scent of the room downstairs changes from neutral to drunken wino. The odor is very pungent and it smells like she hiding a drunken homeless person in her room. I want to tell her to clean up her act; that she needs to do something about neutralizing the odor and to do something about that the funk that rushes out of her room when her door is open but I need to think of a tactful way of doing so, I am becoming a very unhappy camper, any suggestions?

This is a very difficult question. I would personally say to talk to her politely and explain that you don't mind if she is not as clean as you are, but there is limits , like when you smell that room from the downstairs! tell her you would appreciate a little bit of cleanliness. If she is an understanding person then she will clean up a bit!

what does her race have anything to do with her 'funk'?.... either way - just ask her if she's smelled the odor from her room and if she says no (because that alone should embarass her) come clean and just say that she needs to clean up after herself. If she's got a drinking problem you'll probably need to keep after her - so might as well be straight forward from the getco....

explain to her that you are friends and that you care about her, and you feel that there is a slight problem...explain that you feel she needs to keep her door closed to her room, because of the odour, and explain that you understand that it is her room and she can keep it how she likes, but she needs to respect the other parts of the household by keeping her door closed..and as long as she pays half the bills, she does have a right to keep her room as she sees fit, but she also needs to be sure that her unkempt ways to not effect the parts of the household. and if you are a real friend, offer to help her get organized! tell her that you are willing to get shelving and stuff for her to make her life easier,a nd the the two of you can probably live together better!

good luck, baby!

Look, just tell her, girls love honesty, honesty best policy right? Buy her a basket of good smelling goodies, tell her its an early christmas present lol, no but seriously, just tell her like it is, tell her she needs to clean up after herself or company will not be allowed in the house because of it, or just give her a time frame and if she doesn't respect your intentions then tell her she has to get out and find yourself a good responsible roomate!

Is she from a remote places u . s . a .? I incredibly have travelled in Asia and India and in some places they surely do no longer wash. They wipe their genitals with their arms after defecating and then pass on. there is quite no water available. so which you spot she could basically be doing what she has constantly accomplished. you could desire to % to ask her if she could % you tell her approximately social customs or could she locate that intrusive. Take it from there. touch luck. If she is remote places now and returned there is surely no thank you to place across to her or she surely won't settle for correction. Ask her permission to communicate it yet once you spot her face clam up even although she says confident then you definately've a topic and could decrease back off. do no longer do her laundry. she would have the ability to hate you.

subdue the individual and throw her in the tub . Fill it with Tomato juice just as one might cure a person who has been sprayed by a skunk. After this treatment. tie her up and throw her back in her room. Post a note and tack it to an apple. Insert the apple in her mouth and she will get the message.

It's your house. Make the rules. Just tell her, honestly. Don't joke about it.

Say something like, "I like to try to keep a clean house and I want you to have freedom to keep your room as you see fit, but I've noticed that dirty items are being kept for long periods on your floor. They appear to be causing odor that is flowing throughout the house. Can you, please, clean them regularly and deodorize your room?"

She has a mental problem which includes depression. The only way you are going to resolve the problem is getting her psychiatric help. Talking to her or browbeating her is not going to help. She is a miserable unhappy person who cannot get up out of her dilemma whithout the help of others.

ewwww, pity!
I feel for ya! but hmm...
Maybe show resentment of other disgusting ppl or acts?
Also I believe she might not be originally like that, maybe she has phsycological problems not helping her be as oranised or clean as she usually is. Try searching those problems out or seek pro. help if you get hopeless.
Personally, I prefer face to face confrontation but it still depend on the situation.
Good Luck =)
