High muscular tension in torso, hands, and head (especially jaw), plus trapped air in tense stomach which continually requires release through esophagus; heart burn occurs minimally not that the trapped air is released in the correct way (reflux?).

Looking for best ideas about the root causes and for non-medicinal treatments. Professional help and medications have already been secured, but they seem based in treating the symptoms and not the root causes. What might be going on and what can be done about it?

Tonyintoronto, I never thought of my description like that before, but I think that you are barking up the wrong alley, in this case. Though I must admit that the comic relief brings a new and unexpected element to this forum, IMHO.

To me, it seems that the issue is psychologically-related.

Also, I'm not sure how being extremely cute plays into the issue of high physical and digestive tension. Need more details on that one.

Stress could be a cause (even if you don't feel particularly stressed in yourself). Our nervous, digestive and muscular systems are intimately connected and it is difficult to treat them individually.
Do you exercise? If not, start! Something gentle and always stretch well, yoga and massage can help with the tense muscles and improve digestion.
There is a herb called Viburnum opulus (cramp bark), which is an antispamodic and releases tense muscles, very strong chamomile tea(c. 4 teabags, cover infuse in boiling water for 15 mins) reduces both inflammation and irritation in the GIT and peppermint helps disperse the wind.

Best wishes.
