hair dye chamicals, I've read, cummulate after the use in the bladder, so they cause much more cancer there than at the actual hair skin. If you want to dye your hair another colour than blonde, try to use natural based colours like henna based stuff (red, black, copper, brown...) whilst dying your hair with (peroxide? is that the right word? ah, just the stuff that hurts and you write 3,6, 9, or 12% before it) - this cannot -I think- be replaced by any other, harmless product. i guess you should use a more low-level hairdye, maybe it won't be AS harmful. also, this is no guess, you should drink a LOT - and I mean like 5litresof water, so that the chemicals wash out fast (useful only on the first 2,3 days).
remind yourself that all hairdyes are harmful in one or the other way, and don't use them, like, each week.

I color my entire hair..red lol. I use diff. ones actually whatever color red Im in the mood for. I use between two which are Herbal Essences and Clairol. They are both safe, have already talked to my doc. about it. You should talk to yours as well to be on the safe side. If you do dye your hair though do not use any with amonia in it. That is bad.

If I remember correctly, my doctor told me that I could use whatever I wanted after 4 mos. It made me feel so much better... I've got enough grays from my 2 1/2 year old that I needed that hair dye to keep myself from getting the pregnancy blues.

Things that dont have amoina.
They say its technically safe to color your hair after the first trimester. They havent got any proof on way or another that it effects the baby in any way.

They say not to do all over color when pregnant. You can do highlights but hair dresser has to be careful not to touch the scalp. Better safe than sorry.

My doctor said that the over the counter colorings are fine.the exposure is so little and for such a short time. no worries. he said it would only be dangerous if you were a hair dresser and exposed to it all day, everyday.

You can use anything that has a natural base. There are some non-amonia based dyes you can get at your local drug store.

All of them are fine..as long as you aren't doing it every week. Try to wait till after the first trimester.
