Pretty much the same as everybody else there was no integration in the army of WW1 people from the same areas stayed in the same regiment "PALS Battalions". Not a good idea as seeing a life long friend get his head shot of is not going to help with confidence. That was the British Army anyway, pretty much everybody in that War just got up and run and shot whenever an officer blew his whistle. Not the best instance of tactical genius at work on any side.

They got sent in 1st and basically blown to bits. They were the ones that never stood a chance, like most of the ethnic minorities+poor people.

There were regiments that were raised and fought with distintion in Africa, the Kenya Rifles spring to mind.
