That's because you are FOLLOWERS!!! Are the Buffalo Bills America's team? No, because they don't have 5 Superbowls. Leaf fans need a big-*** enema! You are drunks asking for a beating when you invade arenas south of the border and all around the planet. You are like a cockroach infestation in a Bay Street building. You have the HHOF, so does that make Cooperstown "America's team???!!!" Get a clue, and get off the booze! You have a 5 man powerplay and that's it. The rest of your team is *****.

Leafs have 1 big win they start talking Stanley, their are a joke to hockey as fans, Montreal is hockey and always will be. sure we are though on are players cause we have a system and we stick to it till the end. we don't draft players and rush them in the league they need to learn the system and that is to win at all cost. sure we went through the so called "DARK AGES" since are last Stanley cup but us true fans had stuck with them and still sold out every game every year and that's what you call a true LOYAL fan like me. the money the players have been making was way to much and the Habs weren't going to pay players $3 million a season if they avg. 20 to 30 points a season and that's what hurt the game cause you had teams that would give these players what they wanted and Montreal Canadiens had trouble with these types of players the greedy players, but Montreal has its system and they stick with it. we know have a hockey genius with the Montreal Canadiens was considered the best hockey player in the world in the 70's by none other then Russian great Valeri Kharlamov yes its Bob Gainey and you can see the young kids in the farm that are getting better and are ready to step up in a few years to join the greatest team of all sports yes LES BLUE, BLANC ET ROUGE, the Montreal Canadiens. by year 2010 they Habs will host the Stanley cup and bring it home where it belongs.

I'm a Canadiens fan, but they're not Canada's team.

When I lived in Ontario, it was Leaf country. There are fans of other teams, but the Leafs dominate that province. And now I live in Alberta, where I can tell you that nobody cares about either the Leafs or Habs, only the Flames and Oilers.

When there were six teams, you could make this argument. Now, however, it's not the same. Teams are popular regionally, but not nationally like they once were.

Whenever Montreal Canadiens goes to another Canadian hockey city, it's not only a sell out but many of the fans chant for the Habs. It's Canada's team. Also the most beloved. The Leaves are the most hated Canadian team in the NHL.

How many times has the province the Maple Leafs play in tried to leave canada? Same question for the Canadiens?

Also, the majority of canadians are english speaking.

But if Montreal won a couple more cups things could change.

Ya I know it sucks that people don't see it that way. I mean the Detroit Red Wings are pretty much the most famous American team, and they aren't that good.

The Canadians are ten times better than the make beliefs, and they've won more cups than any NHL team ever. However, its more about popularity than anything, seeing who has the most fans instead of seeing who plays better. I like the Habs a lot, not my favorite team, but definitely worthy of the respect they don't get.

I guess we'll realize that when the rest of Canada does... look at the Leafs' away games and the number of Leaf jerseys in the stands as opposed to a Habs away game and Habs jerseys in the stands... it's not even close... sorry!
Addition: HAHA... you're pretty angry for someone who is a fan of the team with the most championships.... talk about being a follower! Anyway, you have the most championships (and I totally respect that), but face it, you're not Canada's team.

Last team to bring the cup north of the border. Not even taking their rich history and records in to account. I'd say that makes them Canada's team at the moment!!
