It is generally a teaspoon for each month of age starting at 6 months. Babies who are under the age of 6 months should not be fed cereal or fruits or veggies unless directed by a phsycian (most won't) because a baby can choke to death because their throats aren't strong enough yet.
I know some selfish stupid parents who endanger their kids constantly from this tiny age all in the name of their sleep, and independance.

totally depends on the baby some eat a little and some eat a lot. Most moms will feed until we get the "full" indication from the baby. At 5 months some kids are on jarred baby foods so rice cereal isnt the only thing they are eating.

Please do not feed your baby until at least 6 months old!! Their digestive system that is mature enough to handle solids. American and Canadian Pediatric Society recommend that you only feed them breastmilk and/or formula until then. You are putting them at higher risk of allergies when you start them on food too early.
And you don’t need to give them water or juice or anything else until they are one years old. And they recommend giving WATER before Juice and juice should be watered down.
Remember you have to feed this kid for the rest of your life…..so what’s the rush?
Here’s a link to help you with the feeding.......

Age: Birth to 4 months------------
Feeding behavior
• Rooting reflex helps your baby turn toward a nipple to find nourishment
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula ONLY!!! •
Your baby's digestive tract is still developing, which is why solid food is off limits for now.
From 4-6 months------------
Signs of readiness for solid food
Your baby probably won't do all these things — they're just clues to watch for.
• Can hold head up
• Sits well in highchair
• Makes chewing motions
• Shows significant weight gain (birth weight has doubled)
• Shows interest in food
• Can close mouth around a spoon
• Can move food from front to back of mouth
• Can move tongue back and forth, but is losing tendency to push food out with tongue
• Seems hungry after 8 to 10 feedings of breast milk or 40 oz. of formula in a day
• Is teething
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula, PLUS
• Semi-liquid iron-fortified rice cereal, THEN
• Other grain cereals like oats or barley
And foods to avoid for your baby

do no longer hassle! some babies purely take longer to lose the tongue thrust reflex that forestalls them from taking foodstuff from a spoon. attempt back in some weeks. do no longer feed her cereal in a bottle as this might properly be a choking danger. She does not rather need cereal now; her breastmilk or formulation is all she rather desires. My daughter did no longer consume solids till she became 7 months previous and now at 18 she eats super!

When my daughter was that old I would mix rice cereal with powder formula and water. She would eat about 1/4 cup and then eat a size 1 jar from Beech-Nut. (This was breakfast)
About an hour later she'd drink 4 oz of formula.
For lunch she'd eat 2 size 1 jars from Beech-Nut
About an hour later she'd drink 4 oz of formula.
For dinner she'd eat 2 size 1 jars from Beech-Nut
About an hour later she'd drink 4 oz of formula.
Just before bed she'd drink 4 oz of formula

My baby is 5mos. old and eats about 5-6 tablespoons per day of rice cereal.
Along with about 30-40 ounces of formula
