As a Mets fan, I root for my team. If you are a Tigers fan, and know the game, there is no way you want to face the Mets, now especially since Orlando El Duque Hernandez will be back for the World Series.
Not to mention the fact that a long break, as the Tigers have, slows down bats. The Tigers will have all they can handle and more from the potent offense and massive heart of the Mets. Any Tiger fan that says that they want the Mets is just asking for trouble.
By the way, if you don't think that NY is a baseball town, what are you smoking? The leading sports radio station in NY, and probably the world, is baseball all year long. Every hour of every day there is at least some baseball talk. For somebody to think that NY isn't is just foolish. Granted St. Louis is a great baseball town, same as Boston, but no offense to Detroit, who I am sure from what I see here has some great fans, NY is the baseball capitol. I hate the Yankees, but Yankee Stadium is refered to as "Baseball's Home Office" and in Cooperstown, closer to NYC than Boston or Philliadelphia, is the Hall of Fame.
To put one city over another is just wrong when talking about the old firmly entrenched baseball towns like NY, Detroit, Chicago, Boston and St. Louis. If you were talking about Tampa or Miami, that's one thing, but to say one of the three cities that remain in the playoffs is a "better baseball town" you are out of your mind.
Keep in mind over 8 million people saw the Mets, Yankees, Staten Island Yankees, and Cyclones this season alone. (well 7.5 to the big clubs and it doesn't include the HV Renegades or LI Ducks either!)

Just to See the New York Mets vs. The Detroit Tigers seems so classic. It would be a great matchup. Although I think Detroit will edge them out in 6 or 7, the Mets have a powerful lineup which would make an exciting series. St. Louis just seems like it would be so boring. All those washed up players(besides Albert of course) would be boring to watch. So yeah Go Mets.

Not a Tigers fan, but I am rooting for St. Louis. For me to root for St. Louis takes a lot, since I am Reds fan, but I do not want a New York team in the World Series. Both teams spent so much money on their players and then they think they are entitled to a Series, that just rubs me the wrong way.

Not a Tiger Fan, but I would like to see New York Mets.
The Tiger haven't won since 1984, The Mets 1986. Both of these teams deserve a World Championship!!
Go Tigers!! Go Mets!!

As a honorary Tiger fan, just for the remainder of the playoffs, I have to root for the Cardinals. We Yankees fans do not like our cross town rivals and it will set very well with us to see them lose. A Tigers - Cardinals world series will bring back memories of Denny McLain and Mickey Lolich and the 1968, 7 game Tiger victory.

amen vertica, however i dont think it will matter who the tigers face, they have a clear advantage with the rotation and pen getting a good rest and we all know pitching wins championships (just ask the yankees). I would like to see baseball towns heros, aka the mets pull this one off in 7 to give el duque 1 more day of rest to come back but i fear the tigers will be to good.

I'm not a Tigers fan, but I'm rooting for St. Louis because it's a baseball town. It would be a great matchup of 2 baseball towns that would drive the ratings monkeys crazy but would provide a great backdrop for the game of baseball.
