Why didn't my parents give me a bat for my birthday?

When I was a kid in Little League, I always wanted my own bat, but nobody ever gave me one. Then I got a paper route and saved up my money and got my own bat. But as soon as I opened the box, it flew away.

Careful - it might be a fruit bat on steroids.
Or a vampire bat like the one I dated. Once.
Didja hear about the kid that wanted a watch for his birthday.
