Yes it is not honest . But yes I've done it. I wasn't on the lease but I was the only one in the apartment Every time they done repairs, inspections, I even swam in the pool without my husband. They have so many tenants they think someone else pays the rent and not you, that's why they don't recognize you. We just said if we got caught we would say we just got engaged and I just moved in and we haven't went down to put me on the lease yet. but you are right it is wrong and a stressful life to live. And really easy to get away with which is why it feels so wrong... so my opinion... its not worth it.If you try to cut corners in life you will end up short yourself.

What your friend is doing is called fraud and if she gets caught can get in trouble and have to pay back all the money she tenichally is cheating the place out of. But most likely just get evicted but still dont do it bc you dont want to deal with the trouble. If you are a family of five and are having trouble with rent there are agencies out there that will help you bc of being such a large family. As frustrating as it can be being honest is still the best way to go. Besides if you claim your husband isnt there and helping and you try for any kind of help they will make him pay child support even though he really is already paying the bills.

That is cheating the high rent prices and it probably fraud and may eventually have to pay that money back if the apartment people find out, along with paying the state back the money. My advice would be do not do it and just be honest about it.

I have been on housing before and it really surprises me that she hasn't been caught yet. I think that you should be honest. I am the property manager of over 100 properties and I know if we find somebody violating their lease they have no choice but to leave after the 3 day notice.
It could be worse because you will be working with a governmental agency/federal agency.

yes it is technically cheating the system if you aren't providing them with all income, if you are caught cheating a goverment agency then you will be kicked out of the house, they usually also not only cut off your benefits but they will prevent you from applying in the future, it is fraud so you are actually breaking the law. it's not a good idea you should just disclose all info and hope you get it with that.

Be honest. Yes they will check, and yes it is fraud. The local government foots the rest of the bill on subsedized housing, so you're stealing tax money.
if you get caught you both can face much more than simple fines and eviction.

You should be honest. When programs get abused like that it makes it very hard for someone who truly needs the help and truly qualifies. You friend should be ashamed and you should go the honest route!

They don't check, but it can be found out if they pay attention to who is coming and going in your house. It's not worth the worry and stress you'll be under....and you face federal charges for welfare fraud if you're caught. Not worth it! Do like the rest of us and make it work somehow, legaly!

You have a bigger chance of your friend getting mad at you and telling on you. So dont take the chance then youll probably lose your assistance and get kicked out of the apartment

no, they really dont check to see who's living with you. they do random inspections to check your housekeeping skills and to make sure everything is working and not broken. there's always a chance on getting caught though. it's rare that you would, unless someone notifies your office manager that he's living there. but yes, its cheating.
