It's simple: arteries are high pressure while veins are lower pressure. Therefore the veins have to be larger. Veins also have valves to drive the blood back toward the core, which tends to pool blood as they fight gravity.

Hi. Also consider the capillary system where the actual transfer of oxygen, nutrients. and waste takes place. The arteries provide this system with blood under some pressure. It flows back to the heart under LESS pressure or it would not flow at all. This requires more volume.

The arteries have a much smaller diameter than the veins. Also they are composed differently, arteries are surrounded by lots of muscle and are more elastic, whereas veins are not.

this is because veins supply blood to all parts of the body hence it should hold a huge percent than artery
