If North Korea and other countries are developing a nuclear weapon program and the UN place sanctions against them, why are Britain and the US still allowed to keep theirs?

Is this not double standards? If it is bad form for one country to develop nukes surely it is bad form for any country. Shouldn't we ban all nuclear weapons?

Nobody needs them, but apparently George Bush does but doesnt want anyone else to have them. The one with the most money has the most nukes. Stupid, isnt it?

YES! We (the USA) needs nukes
Its a sad part of being the only super power and being the most trusted world power.
The US must have any weapon system that does exist:: nuclear , bio-tech, EMP, etc. We must possess and understand these weapons. Its the strongest deterrent to countries or militias from developing or buying these. Any country or people inside a country that are threat end by these weapons will appeal to the USA for defense (maybe the UN, but the UN is pretty useless)

Is it a double standard? Yes, but it is generally accepted that the US will not use its advanced weapons in an offensive manner where as NK or Iran are not trusted to want these weapons for defensive purposes

The idea that we are a democracy and hence, a responsible nation, therefore, we could posses nukes but other countries can't has been defeated since we've be going around invading, killing, torturing, and destroying countries. What good is a democracy if we can't keep our lunatic president from committing massacres in our name?

Its time we voted these religious fanatics out of the office, who are hell-bent on bringing Jesus back as soon as possible.

we only NEED them cause some crazy scientist had to invent the first one...I don't care who what where when and how it was developed, but if you think the US is the only one with world destructing power, that is false...so, now we need them in case the nut jobs of the world all build them....there should never have been any built in the first friggen place...We only Borrow this planet, and we all do to it what we want to, and one day if man doesn't destroy itself, Mother Nature may just jump up and bite us in the a** for screwing up her planet!!!!

I agree. The US has the 'bomb'. But reacts in a shocked and horrified manner if ANY other country wants the 'bomb'.
Sure, I don't want Iran, N. Korea, Pakistan or any other country to have the bomb. But it is a double standard and it is glaringly so.

We should get rid of our nukes right on top of those countries they call the axis of evil before they do it to us.

Many people hate our way of life. I do believe that some countries fear the consequences of attacking the U.S. in part because we have the ability to destroy them. Without that fear, and millions of people who hate us, who knows?

God Bless America-The greatest country on earth.
