2)Test different types of makeup for their capability as a moisture barrier
3) Test the solubility and report whether they are lipid based or water based. Use different solvents to test this.

That sounds lame. I hope you don't get a bad grade for it. What are you going to do, rub different brands of foundation of a piece of paper and see which on has more oil in it? You must be in middle school, because a science project about make up in high school or college will only get you a failing grade. The teacher will get a good laugh at you, but you will still fail. Unless you are planning to work for a cosmetics company and you try to develop your own line of make up. But that would be more Chemistry, which is science, but when you still call it science you are to young to do Chemistry.

As far as lipstick goes, and possibly lipgloss as well...there is a difference in amounts of oils used. You might consider a comparison of designer brands versus off the shelf, no name brands for content. The comparison would need to reveal the basic cost versus the amount of oils in the product. This almost seems to be a project in economics as well. Good luck and do not let anyone insult you for choosing a topic that interests you. People who need the ego boost could well search their own topic, low self-esteem.
