I have a hard time making myself get into "work mode" lately. How do you overcome this? Some people just naturally do what they need to do, so I don't need to hear from those people.

Well, aren't those the people you need to hear advice from? You and I are in the same situation, but I have a feeling I'm deeper in the hole than you. I'm just so lazy when it comes to "work." And maybe because the tasks I do are a bit challenging. Challenging work is good, but sometimes it's easy to get discourage if the task is difficult so it's important to tackle just a piece of it not the whole thing.

Don't fret so mucy about not being the "work mode" lately. EVERYBODY goes through that so you are not alone. Do one or two simple tasks for a couple of days. You'll get back into that mode because people in general, need to feel useful - whether in their jobs, at home, or in society.

Good luck!

To keep myself in "work mode" I envision where it is I want to be in life. I think about the fact that I am unhappy where I am and with what I'm doing right now...about how trapped I feel. The only way out is to work harder towards my goals and to become smarter (I try to learn as much as I can about anything and everything).

Also, sometimes I'll think of my mom. She's still working and has never had a break in her life. There are so many things that I want to do for her, to give her the life she deserves. Thinking about that motivates me more than anything else.

The only way all of this will come true is if I keep working. But I do not mean working in the sense of sitting at a desk 9-5. I'm talking about working towards personal goals (business ideas, investment ideas, etc) that will set me free.

Realize why you need to do certain things. Think about your future and how it depends on you getting certain things done.
Set goals for yourself and meet them. Don't allow yourself to become lazy because you'll take forever to get to where you need to go. Be confident in your abilities. Try to have fun while you're doing what you need to do. Don't be afraid of failing because trying is the most important part. Make a list of reasons of why you need to get things done. Set up a schedule and actually follow it. Don't allow yourself to fall behind. Realize that the sooner you get things done, the sooner you can have fun.
