I have Time Warner cable, and my laptop is not finding my wireless conncection. Any suggestions?

Several potential issues. First, power down the modem and router and laptop. Then, in order, power up the modem, router, then the laptop. That usually solves the problem.
If not, step two is to see if the netgear software you installed disabled windows configuration (they often do). You won't be able to use windows to configure wireless. Enable windows zero configuration in services. This will light up windows for configuration and eliminate the proprietary software (always a good idea). This often resolves the problem.
If not, reset your router (hold the reset button in till it resets) and reconfigure the router.
If that fails, you've got a hardware problem. Either the router or the NIC in the laptop.
