Teachers are always impressed by students who go that extra mile. It doesn't mean you have to be brilliant, just a hard worker who is willing to try and takes pride in their work, whatever their academic level might be. Those students who show that they are on the road to lifelong learning are more likely to impress than those who couldn't care less and are waiting to get out of school.
