In his essay “Civil Disobedience”, Henry David Thoreau states that if we do not support the actions of a government, then we should not fund those actions. That is, if we oppose a war, then don’t pay for the war. Are you willing to stop paying all of your taxes to truly oppose the war? Is it realistic?

to stop paying taxes would not be an effective way to follow the idea. a better method would be to reevaluate our political processes.... and change what is in error.

the sheer lack of voters over the last decade has done very little by way of our political processes..... but instead of the idea of change... 'they' are spending more and more to get people interested in voting.

why can't they just see that THIS is the problem?

No to the question because it is not practical. Wish it were, but they that got the gold make the rules, especially when they have big guns to back them up. Besides, we have thing called elections that alters cases.
