I have important meetings all day today but I just don;t feel like going. Can you think of any good excuses to not be at work? Keep in mind I have no kids or pets. I work in a critical care hospital if that helps, so being sick is not an option.

I have always found that by the time I explain how I have to save the world from an alien invasion and how difficult that will be after I have had so little sleep due to the toaster keeping me up all night with its incessant rantings about how the microwave has been having it off with my electric toothbrush.... and how the last toad I licked had a real kick to it and the funky colours haven't quite gone away... which is going to play hell with my fending off the alien hoards...... and the headache the toaster has given me... and how when I finish with all that I have to jump on an intergalactic time worm thingo and go back in time because some idiot invented the wheel wayyyyy before he should have.... and if I don't go back and stop him it will completely bugger up my plans for next weekend... and that just cannot happen.......

They usually ask me to take time off.................. Lots of time off.......

dont say why you wont be there....but when they ask the next day at work say that you had a family emergency- its simple and wont raise a lot of questions. if they ask what happened just say that a relative had a stroke or heart attack. people will definentally not judge you for not being there if they think something like that happened.

Simply I'm busy
Maybe your giving critical care and can't come to the meeting.

I tell people my co-worker is just a busy guy people just seem to accept it. The reality is he is always about an hour late and likes to leave early, and likes to take breaks.

Say, "I'm not in the mood today and will just probably be less attentive. Therefore I'm canceling our meeting as I feel it will only be less productive. My bad." :P
