set-up another user account for them to use that does not have admin privileges or a limited account. they can't change delete or modify anything. it will allow you to see where they have been surfing and deter them from going to sites that you don't approve of.
make sure you password protect your account!
be aware however that some sites will link to XXX pop-ups and they will appear in the history. make sure you run an anti-spyware program often to make sure there are no hidden files that will open pop-ups randomly.
that is the easiest and cheapest way to go. i once fixed a computer for a woman that was sure that her son was surfing nasty stuff when it was her husband. make sure who it is before pointing fingers and save some trouble at home.

Download a trial of SSpro and you can see every single site they go to, every conversation they have and every key they strike on the keyboard. And the program is hidden and can only be unhidden by you and a password. Try it out and then buy it if you like it. Chances are, you'll find out during the trial period what you're wanting to know though. good luck :-)

You could always check the history (ctrl+H) will bring up the websites where they have been. If you need to know what they are writting, you will need a site, like>>
http://netnanny.com/
You will have to pay for a website like that. It captures every keystroke, and you could see exactly what they are typing..good luck..
