Why would a lady wear a wedding band on her middle finger, left hand?

They can't.

Your have to have a uneven number of fingers to have a middle one.

People have 4 fingers and a Thumb.

I have a cousin who does that. The ring is too big, but it's an antique and she doesn't want to get it resized, since that weakens the band. So she wears it on the finger it fits.
