no,termites or other insects may damage the drywall while feeding on the structure itself,,but as far as only drywall--no !!!!

Sure is!!! I have had them. Nasty buggers to get rid of. Usually you have to replace the dry wall. It's a real pain in the ***. Shop around to find someone who will take care of it cheaply. You can also buy dry wall that prevents that sort of thing in the first place.
