tripadvisor.com is really good as it has reviews of hotels and b&b's by people who've actually stayed there on holiday etc.
It's independant so you get a true view of somewhere but bear in mind some people will moan about anything.
They also have links with photos and location maps which is linked with Expedia. Get a price from expedia but ring the hotel direct too cause sometimes they have late deals if they are quiet.

I have found Bright to be rip-off capital of the UK when it comes to accommodation. Last time in B&B, I payed £70 and the breakfast was continental, served in the room. Most economic place that I have found was the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, I think that it was £55.00 last time.

If you look up www.bedandbreakfastnationwide.co.uk you will find a comprehensive list of good quality (inspected) B&Bs in all parts of the British Isles. Another good site is farmstay.co.uk (or it might be farmstayUK.com) for farmhouses, again all of a good standard.

www.tripadvisor.com is great - just make sure you get the balance of opinion though, to cut out the grumps, and the owners who try to 'review' themselves!
